The Team

Adam Cro – The Designer

adam

Adam started Cro Fittings in February 2015, after being asked to help with a locomotive rebuild that required a lot of extra detail. Having recently finished his Degree in Electronic & Electrical Engineering at Brunel University, running the business has fast become a part time job which fits around his new career as an Electronics Engineer with Instron.  Adam specialises in creating the 3D modelling and design work using some of the latest 3D CAD modelling software, and also carrying out the machining on any finished products.

Mike Jack – The Guru

mike

Mike is from Auckland, New Zealand, and runs Stanier Engineering where all of the 3D printing is done. Mike has a background in engineering for a White Goods company but also spends his time working with 3D modelling with his 3D wax Projet printer, and for CNC mill. Mike is also embarking on a mammoth project to design and build a true scale BR Class 3MT Tank loco in 5″ gauge. This is what led to the purchase of the specialist printer, and his work so far is just second to none. Do contact Mike if you want to know more about the project and the locos.

Paul Hutfield – The Librarian

p

Paul is our fountain of knowledge. Without the huge resource of drawings he has collected over the years, we would never have been able to start this venture. Paul is immensely knowledgeable about the history of steam, and a wonderful partner to have on board. He is big lover of GL5, and has a real passion for getting that final touch just right.

John Holroyd- The Consultant

J

John is a fellow model engineer and a very gifted one at that. Currently he is the Head Engineer at The Steam Workshop and can turn his hand to pretty much anything. Taking charge of the major rebuilds in the workshop he is also extremely gifted at adding that special finishing touch, especially when it comes to using his lining pens.

Simon Hudson – The Brains….or so he says!

simon

Simon is one of our strongest supporters, and without his tireless inquiries into countless items for locomotive rebuilds, we wouldn’t have started our venture. Simon is the founder and owner of The Steam Workshop. He divides his time between the workshop and his other business (a Chiropractic Clinic) when he’s not travelling all over the country personally delivering and collecting locos from customers. A very knowledgeable guy, with a specific interest in Victorian Era locos which are, in his own words, “very pretty…”.
